Carrollton Community Unit School District 1 students suspended 62 times in a single school year

Carrollton Community Unit School District 1 reported 62 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 62 students during the year. That equates to 10.8 percent of the 574 students enrolled.

Of the 38 in-school suspensions, 28 were given to boys and 10 were given to girls.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 38 incidents. For 24 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 24 out-of-school suspensions, 12 were given to boys and 12 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 22 incidents. There were two incidents of a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm. For 14 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
