City of Jacksonville issued the following announcement on Dec. 21.
#ShareYourSquare: Jacksonville is BIG. It’s the largest city in the continental U.S., covering 840 square miles, which means there are many gems, like the Thomas Creek Preserve and Fish Camp (17200 Ethel Road).
The southernmost battle of the American Revolutionary War, and the only one fought in present-day Duval County, took place at Thomas Creek on May 17, 1777.
