Q3 2018 Recap: Parolees near Illinois zip code 62681 convicted of crimes against children

There were three offenders convicted of crimes against children released on parole near Illinois zip code 62681 during the third quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the West Central Reporter.

The data shows that three men were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for crimes against children, one is a veteran, and the median age is 44. The youngest parolee was a 25-year-old man sentenced in 2016, and the oldest was a 59-year-old man sentenced in 2016.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Billy A. Speagle. He was convicted of a crime against one or more children in 2013 when he was 42 years old. He is now 48.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
