Many area municipalities in Western Illinois will have contested races heading toward the April 6 election.
Winchester's incumbent Mayor Rex McIntyre is seeking reelection against challenger Steve Hoots. In addition, the Winchester alderman and city clerk positions will be up for grabs. Current Winchester City Clerk Brenda Robinson will be challenging Ron Bell in the campaign as Ward 3 alderman. For the resulting open city clerk seat, Tony Cox and Terry Little will be up for election.
Like Winchester, Manchester in Scott County has multiple items on the ballot. Tom Benton and Mark Hankins are competing against one another for village president. Ricky Blakely, current interim president, has opted out of reelection.

Blakely first came into the position when Ron Drake passed away before the end of his term. Benton is a member of the Manchester Village Board, so if he wins the election for village president, that will also open his board seat. In that scenario, Marty DeFrates and Nancy Knapp will both fill the resulting openings.
For Bluffs, another village of Illinois, five candidates are vying for the four vacancies on the school board. Matt Bangert, Roger Barnett, Terri Kunkel, Anthony Surratt and Gary Westermeyer will all be campaigning for open seats.
For the mayoral election in White Hall, incumbent Brad Staats will face Derek Kleidon and Phillip Shiply for reelection.
In the City of Carrollton, Joe Montanez will be challenged for his position as mayor by the former Public Works Director Mike Snyder. According to the Greene Prairie Press, Snyder retired from his public works position in 2020.
An opening for city clerk will also be on the ballot, as incumbent Karen Kirbach will not seek reelection. Hoping to fill that position will be candidates Vicki Jackson and former Carrollton Grade School Principal Donna Nonneman.
