City of Bushnell City Council met April 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

*1st reading of the 2022-2023 Budget

Ald. Lorton made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

1. Approval of Minutes from March 21, 2022

2. Approve February Financial report

3. Approve and Pay March Bills

Ald. Baker seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Mayor Wilt reminded council to have their timesheets in by 4/10/2022

*Economic Interest sheets must be sent in by 5/1/2022

*Mayor Wilt brought a book written and illustrated by Ryan Thiele who grew up in

Bushnell, it’s called Rile and Gridley.

*Community meeting Tuesday, April 5, 2022, 5:00 at the Rec. Center

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Next meeting will be Tuesday, April 12, 4:00 at the City Hall to discuss IBEW contracts.

Public Works

*Utility Supervisor Joe Fosdyck asked to put an ad in the paper for summer help in the Gas Dept. to paint meters and do other miscellaneous things.

*Fosdyck stated he doesn’t know if It’s necessary to state in the Gas contract that they must receive a CDL within 90 days. The price of getting a CDL has went up exceptionally.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*Activity report for March

*Chief of Police Chaney Ferguson stated he needed an ad in the paper for a new officer.

*Jeff Rench with ESDA stated the county would be doing a countywide survey of the flood plains.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*Megan Crook from IMEG stated they will advertise the Hail St. sidewalk project in the IDOT Bulletin, Open bids on April 26th at 10:00 at City Hall, bid will be awarded at the May

2nd meeting.

*Ald. Yocum stated that he has talked with McDonough County Sherriff Nick Petitgout about having some of the inmates come and help paint the Rec. Center.

*Ald. Webb stated there are grants available to increase bike ability, such as building bike paths and such. She will continue to look into this.

Economic Development

*Next meeting April 25, 2022 4:00 at City Hall

*The committee is working hard on the 61422 celebration. Watch for updates on the Facebook page.

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

*City Attorney Chuck Leageler stated that Engineering firm will begin to do their initial investigation to see where there is a feasible location for the Reid Splash Park.

*Leageler also stated we are waiting to hear from the Pierce family about the façade on Main Street.

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn
