The Illinois Chamber gave Senator Jil Tracy the title of “Champion of Free Enterprise” for her support of small businesses and other achievements.

“A ‘Champion of Free Enterprise’ honor by the Illinois Chamber demonstrates a commitment to helping businesses, employers, and jobs for our citizens,” she said to West Central Reporter.

Ballotpedia wrote Tracy took to office in 2017 and is on the ballot for the upcoming June 28 Primary election.

The Illinois Chamber rated all members of the 102nd General Assembly based on each legislator’s votes on the key business-related legislation of the past two years. These bills of importance were determined by staff and the Illinois Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee.

“The Illinois Chamber is delighted to have Tracy in the State Senate. Senator Tracy is a business leader in the private sector and yet devotes countless hours advocating for Illinois’ fiscal sanity for future generations of Illinoisans,” said Illinois Chamber President and CEO Todd Maisch. “Her real-world knowledge and commonsense approach are a breath of fresh air.”

Tracy told St. Louis Public Radio she endorsed Congressperson Rodney Davis because he’s familiar with issues in the area he wants to represent. STLPR added the 45th President also endorsed Davis.

“(Davis) wanted to run and he called a lot of his colleagues and asked them to endorse him,” she said to STLPR. “It was easy when he asked if I would endorse him because I had worked with him.”

The Illinois Chamber of Commerce is a private nonprofit organization supported by member dues, contributions from a diverse group of primarily Illinois-based businesses and revenue generated by offering HR compliance educational seminars and materials.

Ballotpedia wrote Tracy’s term is expected to end in 2023.

The Champion of Free Enterprise award corresponds with the release of the Illinois Chamber 102nd General Assembly Legislative Ratings. With more than 10,000 bills and resolutions introduced in 102nd General Assembly, the votes in the Senate and House of Representatives were selected based on their potential impact on the Illinois economy and members of the business community.
