Western Illinois University Athletics is holding auditions to find a new public address announcer for its basketball games. The auditions are scheduled for Thursday, October 30, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Western Hall in Macomb, Illinois.
The person selected will serve as the in-game announcer for both the men's and women's basketball teams during the 2025–26 season. According to the athletics department, this role is important for creating an engaging atmosphere during games.
Participants in the audition will be asked to read sample scripts and perform live introductions on the court at Western Hall. There is no requirement for previous announcing experience, but those interested should be comfortable using a microphone and familiar with sports terminology.
