City of Pittsfield City Council met Oct. 24.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held at 8:30 a.m. The meeting was held in the Council Room at the Pittsfield City Hall at 215 N Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor Gary Mendenhall, City Clerk Ann Moffit, and Alderman Paul Lennon, Chris Little, Robert Wilson, and Kevin Wombles. Alderman Kevin Ketchum attended via teleconference. Alderman Ritchart, Grimsley and White was absent. Mayor Mendenhall presided.

Mayor Mendenhall explained that there was one bidder for the tree removal project at the Pittsfield Penstone Airport. The bid was from Mark Edlin Dozing in the amount of $266,000.00. Hanson Engineering was present during the bid opening and recommended that since we had only one bidder we should contact the bidder to discuss. Mr. Edlin was contacted and indicated that if he could remove the stumps rather than cut the tree and leave the stump as is he could reduce his bid to $180,000.00. Hanson Engineering agreed that it would be acceptable to remove the stump and seed the area. Mr. Edlin reduced the bid to $180,000.00.

Alderman Wombles moved to accept the bid of $180,000.00 from Mark Edlin Dozing for tree removal at the Pittsfield Penstone Airport.

Alderman Little seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Ketchum, Little, Lennon, Wilson, Wombles (5)

Nay: NONE (0)

Present: NONE (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Wombles moved to approve an internal loan from the General Corp Fund to the Airport Fund in the amount of $180,000.00.

Alderman Little seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Ketchum, Little, Lennon, Wilson, Wombles (5)

Nay: NONE (0)

Present: NONE (0)

The motion carried.

Alderman Wombles moved to adjourn this meeting at 8:50 a.m.
