City of Pittsfield City Council met Jan. 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, January 03, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Council Room at the Pittsfield City all at 215 N Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor Gary Mendenhall, City Clerk Ann Moffit, and Alderman Kevin Ketchum, Paul Lennon, Chris Little, Robert Ritchart, Beth White, Robert Wilson, and Kevin Wombles. Alderman Grimsley was absent.

Mayor Mendenhall presided.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve December 20, 2022 city council minutes.

Alderwoman White seconded the motion.

Roll Call: Yea: Ketchum, Lennon, Little, Ritchart, White, Wilson, Wombles (7)

Nay: NONE (0)

Present: None (0)

The motion carried.

Mayor’s Announcements:

Mayor Mendenhall wished everyone a Happy New Year.

There will be a Holiday Party for the City of Pittsfield staff and officials on January 21, 2023, at the Moose Lodge in Pittsfield.

Mayor Mendenhall has received many complaints about the trash service in Pittsfield, the complaints include pricing, fees and damage to the streets and alleys.

Mayor Mendenhall and Ed Knight have had conversations and meetings with business that have an interest in Pittsfield.

The employee handbook will be ready for approval on January 17, 2023.

Employee evaluations were completed, and the raises were in effect on December 30, 2022.

Mayor Mendenhall is working with the Park Board in reference to a part time Recreation Director to run the baseball/softball leagues.

The Pike County Quick Lube open house will be Friday, January 06, 2023 at 3:30.

Mayor Mendenhall went over the IML Statehouse Briefing which includes the SAFE T Act Update,

Minimum Wage Increase, to name a few.

Alderman Wombles moved to accept the Public Safety Committee’s recommendation to approve the purchase of five License Plate Reader Cameras by the Pittsfield Police Department with funding for the cameras to come from donations and capital outlay.

Alderman Little seconded the motion.

The motion carried.

Alderman Little noted that the Economic Development Committee meeting that was scheduled did not occur due to a lack of quorum.

Alderman Ketchum moved to suspend the ruled of competitive bidding for the basin and terrace work at the Airport Farm.

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

Alderman Wombles moved to accept the proposal of Heaver tiling to complete the basing and terrace work for site 3 in the amount of $41,945 and site 4 in the amount of $17,035 at the Airport Farm property.

Nay: Ritchart (1)

Alderman Ritchart moved to pay bills as stated by City Clerk.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

Present: NONE (0)

The motion carried.

New Business:

Mayor Mendenhall welcomed Officer Clendenny to the meeting and introduced her to the full council.

Alderman Ketchum requested an Ordinance Committee Meeting to be scheduled January 17, 2023 at 5pm.

Alderman Little invited everyone to the grand opening of Pike County Quick Lube on Friday at 3:30.

Alderman Wilson stated that he has also had calls in reference to the trash prices.

Ed Knight stated that a letter has been received awarding an IDNR grant in the amount of $199,000, however the application was for $48,000, he is inquiring about the details.

Tom Reinhardt asked for the Street and Alley Committee to meet to discuss the Motor Fuel Tax estimate.

Max Middendorf stated that contractors should be working again on Well #4 next week.

Alderwoman White moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:19 p.m.
