City of Bushnell City Council met Aug. 7.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order                       

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given. 

 Roll Call

Treasurer

* City Treasurer Betsy Rench stated that her and the Mayor would be meeting with the auditor on the 15th to go over the audit.

* Rench also stated the Girl Scouts are going to help spread mulch around the depot.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Yocum made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

1. Approval of Minutes from July 17, 2023

2. Approve June Financial reports

3. Approve and Pay July Bills

Ald. Coates seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Norton absent Ald. Baker “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

* Mayor Wilt stated the work on the façade project has been started.

* Friends feeding Friends will be having an ice cream social on the 24th.

* The B-PC Backpack program will not be having their run this year but would appreciate

Any donations. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 42.

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Nothing to report

Public Works

* Ald. Yocum stated that the Low voltage drive at the Water Plant needed replaced, council agreed with general consensus to buy a new drive for $4072.00

* Street Superintendent David Raymond stated that the storm clean up was almost all done and the dump will be closed back up and open for regular hours only. Wednesday’s and Thursdays from 4-7 and Saturdays from 9-2.

* Lake Lawn state study has requested a stop sign at HillCrest Dr. and Lakeview Dr. The city will have to pass an ordinance to make this happen.

* The council agreed with general consensus to sign the paperwork for the IEPA.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

Ald. Baker made a motion to approve a liquor license for the Fall festival. Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows.

Ald. Havens “aye”        Ald. Allen “aye”

Ald. Norton absent       Ald. Baker “aye”

Ald. Burkholder “aye”   Ald. Coates “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

* The committee will address the Sunday liquor license fee for New Year’s Eve and Super Bowl Sunday.

* Jeff Rench with ESDA stated they are working on the FEMA reimbursement for storm damage.

* Rench stated he received a grant from McDonough Power and he is purchasing learning tools for the schools.

* Rench has new signup cards for Everbridge, he may be set up at the depot during the festival to get people signed up.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

* Ald. Yocum stated the water heater at the Rec. Center leaked and ruined all the ceiling tiles in the Women’s bathroom.

Engineering Report

* Greg Ryckaert from IMEG stated the splash park plans are moving along, there are two permits that are needed. The EPA permit is in and the DOT will be sent in today.

* The façade project is in process

* The Water tower painting is scheduled to begin this month.

Economic Development

* Ald. Allen stated the Lotto Ticket fundraiser is not going well, so they will have to return any monies already taken.

* The committee is planning a fundraiser for the Depot on Saturday, June 22, 2024, there will be live music , food , kids’ games and other activities possible.

MAEDCO

* Executive Director of MAEDCO Kim Pierce stated that a CEO student will be providing Ice cream for the Farmers & Merchants Anniversary party.

* The 2024 CEO program orientation is August 8, 2023

* There is going to be a private viewing of the K-Mart building on the 8th.

* Manufacturing month is coming in October.

* Nothing to report
