City of Bushnell City Council met Monday, Jan. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order                        

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Norton made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

    1.  Approval of Minutes from December 18, 2023

    2.  Approve November Financial Report

    3.  Approve & Pay December bills

    4.  Accept November Financial/Treasurer’s repor

Ald. Yocum seconded the motion.  A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*David & Shelly Roberts are opening up a new shop “Reaching Hearts on Main” in Prairie

City on 2/1/24

*1/23/24 – Friends Feeding Friends soup and sandwiches 4:30 – 6:30

*1/21/24 – Open house for Liz Scott 2:00 at the Rec. Center

*1/27/24 – BPC High School Band Music Trivia

*2/10/24 – BPC Jr High Band Music Trivia

*Tessa Sargeant placed 1st runner up @ the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen pageant

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Next meeting January 25, 2024 @ City Hall 4:00

Public Works

*Water main break, corner of Hess and Washington St is repaired

*West Lagoon, EPA response letter fell through the channels.

*New Video request from WIRC, video sent to WIRC, Washington Street Project

*Snow Removal, thank you to the City crew for the good work.

*Next meeting January 29th 4:00 @ City Hall

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*Police Chief Justin Hood stated they have had no applicants for the police position opening.

*Hood stated the shed behind the police dept. is almost finished

*The new Police truck is being delivered sometime this week

* Jeff Rench with ESDA stated the Rec. Center is open this week as a warming center

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*Ald. Webb stated that new mirrors have been ordered for the fitness room

*Webb asked for signs to be made instructing people to turn off the lights in the Gym when they leave.

Engineering Report

*West Treatment plant violation notice – An email was sent from Scott Kammerman at our office to Marissa at the IEPA. IMEG will need to put a action plan/report together in early part of 2024 and some construction to begin in 2025 to meet EPA guidelines on the notice.

*Lead Service Line Inventory grant- looks like grant agreement will come soon to Bushnell.

Anticipate that work to begin in late February/early March.

*Washington St. Sanitary sewer – worked with Jarred Dexter on a second CDBG application.

Anticipate that work to begin in late February/early March.

Economic Development

*Next meeting 1/31/2023 4:30 at the Rec Center

*Water is frozen at the Depot

*New table came in at Rec Center

*Working on “Let the Sparks Fly” fund raiser

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

*Tax Levy has been mailed

*Federal subpoena has been taken care of

*Waiting on easements from the Park Board for the Splash Park.

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn.

Meeting was adjourned at 6:04
