City of Bushnell City Council met Feb. 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order                        

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

*City Treasurer Betsy Rench stated she heard from WIRC and we are not getting any grant

Money for the new police vehicle.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Yocum made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

1. Approval of Minutes from January 15, 2024

2. Approve December Financial Report

3. Approve & Pay January bills

Ald. Baker seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Webb absent Ald. Allen “aye”

Ald. Havens “aye” Ald. Burkholder “aye”

Ald. Norton “aye” Ald. Baker “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Prairie City Fire Department Pancake breakfast 2/10/2024 from 7 – 10

*Music Trivia for the Baseball team 2/10/2024 @ VFW

*MAEDCO Annual Membership Meeting 2/13/2024 @ Park Place for 5:00-6:30

Personnel/Finance/Budget

Public Works

*Lead Line Service Inventory Grant ($40,000), Dead line April 15th, 2024

Ald. Yocum made a motion to hire Jake Brown back as a part time employee at his exiting rate and no benefits. Ald. Havens seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Webb absent Ald. Allen “aye”

Ald. Havens “aye” Ald. Burkholder “aye”

Ald. Norton “aye” Ald. Baker “aye”

Ald. Yocum “aye” Ald. Coates “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

*There will be an increase in the bulk water rate

*Washington Street Project Video Completed and sent to WIRC

*West Lagoon, Extension letter sent to EPA, it was turned down.

*Gas Prices will be higher on next month utility bills.

*The City yard waste site will be closed until further notice.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

Ald. Baker made a motion to approve a new manager at JoJo’s, Johnny Heil. Ald. Norton seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Yocum “aye” Ald. Coates “aye”

*Rosemary & Rust liquor application in process

*Parking tags on cars, you have 72 hours to comply

*Chief Hood is sending 2 guys to a one day course on interviewing techniques

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*Next meeting 2/14/2024 4:30 @ Rec. Center

Engineering Report

*Nothing to report

Economic Development

*Working on the “Let the Sparks Fly” fundraiser

*Next meeting 2/13/2024 4:30 @ Rec Center

*The fitness room will be closed @ 4:00 on the 17th of February.

MAEDCO

*Kim Pierce, Executive Director at MAEDCO stated there has been interest in properties in Bushnell.

*The K-Mart property is moving forward.

*Jobapaloza will be March 27th from 2:00 – 4:00, booths for businesses are $30.00

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

*City Attorney Nick Tinsman is working on a special events liquor license

*Some tickets are coming through for Ordinances Violations on Nuisance Properties

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn.
