Marshalltown Discussion

Joe Carter, President & CEO of Marshalltown addressed council and guests about purchasing Vaughan & Bushnell Mfg. Co. Mr. Carter stated Marshalltown has been in business for 134 years. It is a privately-held company with over 600 full-time employees. They have facilities in Marshalltown, Iowa and Fayetteville, Arkansas. They make over 8,000 products for asphalt, brick, stone, concrete, paint, drywall, plaster, stucco, tiling/flooring, carpet, snow removal and related construction and home improvement applications.

They are asking the City for an incentive to help with the purchase of Vaughan & Bushnell. Vaughan & Bushnell will probably be forced to close its doors if it doesn’t get sold. Mr. Carter is asking the City for some kind of a commitment over time to help them out.

The city will have another Special meeting on Monday, 4-8-2024 at 5:30.
