City of Bushnell City Council met June 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order                        

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given. 

 Roll Call 

Ald. Donna Coates -P     Ald. Greg Yocum -A        

Ald. Lisa Webb -P           Ald. Stacey Allen –P         

Ald. Kim Havens –A        Ald. Mike Burkholder –P

Guest – Steve Miller was concerned about a fence his neighbor put up but did not go through the proper channels. He also stated that the 900 block of Sperry St. needs work on the sidewalk so the Elementary kids don’t have to walk in the street.

Treasurer

*City Treasurer Betsy Rench stated that the person she thought could help with taking care of the downtown flower beds and such was not going to work out.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Norton made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

1. Approval of Minutes from May 20, 2024

2. Approve April Financial Report

3. Approve & Pay May bills

Ald. Coates seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Webb “aye”          Ald. Allen “aye”

Ald. Havens absent     Ald. Burkholder “aye”

Ald. Norton “aye”         Ald. Baker “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Pool is OPEN!! Please pass the word and stop out and swim a bit.

*VBS is happening this week!!

*B-PC Volleyball Summer Camp starts 6/14

*Summer Reading at the Library starts tomorrow!! 11am-noon weekdays

*Bushnell Carwash Grand Opening Saturday June 15th.

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Ald. Norton stated that the City is receiving the bills for the Swimming pool chemicals, the Pool Board will need to address council about payment.

Public Works

Ald. Norton made a motion to pay for the cost of $27,223.10 for the generator they used while painting the Water tower. Ald. Burkholder seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Webb “aye”           Ald. Allen “aye”

Ald. Havens absent     Ald. Burkholder “aye”

Ald. Norton “aye”         Ald. Baker “aye”

Ald. Yocum absent      Ald. Coates “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

*Storm Sewer Flooding, (Lake Lawn & Murphy Land) – the city does not own the tiles that need replaced, so they will have to find out who owns the tiles .

*Splash Park Water line has been started

*Street Department purchased an End Loader at the SanHill Sale

*Washington Street Project (Time Frame) – Waiting on a grant, Greg Ryckaert will check with IMEG

*Lead Line Service – the inventory is done, now they have to have a plan for the EPA

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*Ald. Baker stated that he is working with the attorney to get a license to have liquor at The Depot.

*The parts for the new Police Truck have been ordered and should be in by the middle of next month.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*Nothing to report

Engineering Report

*Nothing to report

Economic Development

*Next meeting June 10th 4:30 @ Depot

MAEDCO

*Board meeting next Tuesday

*Executive Director Kim Pierce stated the Dairy Queen is owned by World Bank and she has been trying to work with them.

*Pierce stated there has been no interest in the old Dollar General.

*Pierce stated there are no students from Bushnell enrolled in the CEO program for next year

Attorney’s Report/ Ordinances & Resolutions

*Nothing to report

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn.
