*City Treasurer Betsy Rench stated she has filed a claim to try to recover some of the funds that the City is out from the V&B loan.
Consent Agenda
Ald. Yocum made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.
1. Approval of Minutes from June 3, 2024
2. Accept May Financial/Treasurer’s report
Ald. Burkholder seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)
*Trash – should be picked up and cleaned by Thursday. The Mayor is working with Eric Shangraw from GFL to have a better plan in place for more immediate communication with them regardless of the day of the week that this happens. Our contract is up next year, expires 7/31/2025. Public Works will work that contract probable starting the first of the year.
*We got the grant for the Washington Street project. We are waiting on some information from the state to finalize that process before we start.
*Fireworks are set – Kelei Leab and her brother Karson will be singing the National Anthem. starts at dusk at the High School.
*Marshalltown Hammer completed the clean-up of the old Markham Hawkins building- it looks Great!!! Thanks so much to them!!
Personnel/Finance/Budget
*Next meeting 6/27/2024 4:00 City Hall
Public Works
*All solar customers will get two bills to enable them to get the credit. One for electric and one for Gas, Water & Sewer.
Police/Liquor/ESDA
*Police Chief Hood stated that it will be July before the Truck goes in to get built.
*Police will be working on Ordinance Violations for Nuisance Properties.
*The Rec. Center will be open as a Cooling Center for all days over 90.
*The storm sirens will go off while we are still under a threat of bad weather.
Parks/Recreation/Real Estate
*The Ground breaking ceremony for the Splash Pad was last Saturday among those in attendance was Jim & Katie Brewer, Norine Hammond, Dan Swanson, Mayor Wilt, City Clerk, Deputy City Clerk and most of the council. They are hoping to have he splash pad Up and running late July or early August.
*The Rec Center is in need of some new plumbing, Batson’s will be doing the work in increments.
Engineering Report
*Working on a Lead Service Line replacement report for the IEPA. Will work with Greg Fulkerson on this.
*Working on getting quotes on sludge removal on treatment plants and extending land application permits.
*Will check in with Jared Dexter at WIRC on CDBG process for Washington St. sewer grant
That Bushnell received.
Economic Development
*Everything set for the Depot fundraiser Sat. June 22, gates open at 6:00, Music by Revel in Red At 8:00.
MAEDCO
*Executive Director Kim Pierce of MAEDCO state there has been some interest in the Locker.
*Still working with several parties on the Dairy Queen.
Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions
*City Attorney Nick Tinsman stated he is working on a liquor license for the Depot.
