The Western Illinois men's soccer program has been recognized by the Summit League for their academic achievements during the 2023-24 academic year. The Leathernecks had five student-athletes named to the Commissioner's List of Academic Achievement: Jimmy Baars, Liam Gainey, Gabe Chapa, Oscar Olingdahl, and Abdul Hypolite.

To be selected for this list, a student-athlete must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher, use a year of eligibility, and complete three full semesters (or five quarters) at the institution.

Additionally, 16 student-athletes were named to the conference's 2023-24 Academic Honor Roll. These athletes include Jimmy Baars, Alexis Beltran, Aidan Breslin, Gabe Chapa, Daniel Chiappetta, Armin Dedic, Liam Gainey, Xavier Gagnon, Oskar Grevelius, Abdul Hypolite, Joel McIntyre, Cian McNamara, Oscar Olingdahl, Diego Porras, Caleb Ragland, and Micah Ramirez. To qualify for the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale and must have used a season of competition in their sport.

The team also received the Team Academic Achievement Award based on the percentage of list-eligible student-athletes on the Commissioner's List.

This season marks a transition for the Western Illinois men's soccer team as they move from the Summit League to the Ohio Valley Conference. They will open their season with an exhibition match against Illinois-Chicago on August 10.
