City of Pittsfield City Council met July 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Council Room at the Pittsfield City all at 215 N Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor Gary Mendenhall, City Clerk Ann Moffit, and Alderman Kevin Ketchum, Bill Grimsley, Paul Lennon, Chris Little, Robert Ritchart, Robert Wilson, Beth White, and Kevin Wombles.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the July 02, 2024, city council minutes.

Alderman White seconded the motion.

Ritchart, White, Wilson, Wombles (8)

Mayor’s Announcements:

The Adams Street resurfacing project bid opening occurred, and works should begin soon.

The Pike County Storage sale of property occurred last week.

Panhandle was found, by FERC, to have miscalculated the refunds due in the Panhandle transportation case. An additional $108,235.25 will be distributed. IMGA continues to advise that these funds are not used, as the case is still in Federal Court in the appeal status.

The Gas/Water crossing agreement for the Windmill Project is being finalized.

IML will be September 19-21, 2024.

Chief White sent an update and the build schedule is on tract for the new Fire Truck.

Work has continued on the Solicitor Ordinance and Peddler’s permit Application.

The water department has been working on four – five different water line leaks.

Music with a Mission Festival is coming up on July 27. Gates open at 5pm music starts at 6pm. Tickets are $25.00.

The painting process has begun on the North Water Tower.

Bid Opening for the Intersection of Higbee and Memorial occurred this week.

We have been working on a remedy for the Jill Street sewer issue. There are 5 residense that Alderman Ritchart moved to approve the June 2024 Monthly Treasurer’s Report.

Alderman Ritchart reported that the Public Safety Committee met and discussed an employee termination and a new employee has accepted the vacant position. The new truck should be ready this week. A camera reimbursement grant should be coming soon. Neighborhood vehicles were discussed.

Alderman Ketchum advised that the Ordinance Committee met and discussed the solicitor ordinance.

Also discussed was the addition of Taxidermy as a permitted use in B-3.

Alderman Ritchart moved to approve Ordinance No. 1734, Annual Appropriations Ordinance April, 2024 – May 2025 on its first reading by title only.

Alderman Ketchum seconded the motion.

Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the purchase of a pump for the Sewer Plant in the amount of $41,121.59.

Alderman Wilson seconded the motion.

New Business:

Mayor Mendenhall stated that the electrical contractors have begun in the City Hall Expansion.]Alderman Grimsley has been asked about refunds from Uri and Panhandle Transportation. Nothing is expected from Uri. The Panhandle transportation remains in litigation in Federal Court.

Alderman Grimsley wished Alderman Lennon well on his summer hike.

Alderman Lennon stated he would be hiking and return Mid-August.

Alderman Little stated that emailing department supervisors works to identify and rectify issues.

Ek Knight stated that he has received the final elevator requirements and he has been working on the application for a $50,000 grant.

Alderman Ketchum moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:33 p.m.
