The Western Illinois University women's tennis team is set to commence its fall season this weekend at the SIUE Cougar Invite. The event will take place on Friday and Saturday.
The Leathernecks will compete against Lindenwood, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (SIUE), and Bradley in a round-robin format. This marks the second season under head coach Luke Ogren. Last year, the team finished with an overall record of 2-16.

WHAT: SIUE Cougar Invite
WHEN: Friday, September 6, and Saturday, September 7
WHERE: SIUE Tennis Courts, 35 Circle Dr., Edwardsville, Illinois
MATCHUPS:
- Friday: Singles – Bradley vs. Western Illinois at 1 p.m.; Doubles – Lindenwood vs. Western Illinois at 3 p.m.; SIUE vs. Western Illinois at 4 p.m.
- Saturday: Singles – Western Illinois vs. Lindenwood at 11 a.m.; Doubles – Bradley vs. Western Illinois at 1 p.m.
Western Illinois returns four players from last year's lineup, including last season's No. 1 and No. 2 singles players Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza and Paige Grice. Anna-Evelina Trush and Aubrey Brumbaugh also return to the squad.
The team has added a large signing class comprising Denver Johnson, Mana Fawcett, Richardlyne Francois, Gabriela Miteva, Nadezhda Petkova, and Chloe Routier as freshmen recruits. Additionally, transfer student Nour Gueblaoui joins the program this season.
