City of Bushnell City Council met Aug. 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Roll Call

Ald. Donna Coates -P Ald. Greg Yocum -A Mayor Robin Wilt -P Utility Manager Joe Fosdyck - P

Guest – Jim Martin asked for permission to put a bench in East park in memory of his son. The council said it would be no problem.

Treasurer

*City Treasurer Betsy Rench stated the auditors would be here the week of September 9th.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Coates made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

1. Approval of Minutes from July 15, 2024

2. Approve June Financial Report

3. Approve & Pay July bills

Ald. Webb seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Coates “aye” Ald. Yocum absent

Ald. Webb “aye” Ald. Allen absent

Ald. Havens “aye” Ald. Burkholder “aye”

Ald. Norton “aye” Ald. Baker “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ald. Yocum came in at 5:36

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Courtyard has sold

*East Main Treasurers – will be closing with August 24th being their last day for day to day

Operations. They will be having Clearance Sales until then. They will also have weekend

FB Auctions. They will be in Colchester for Labor Day Weekend & in London Mills for Spoon Rive Drive.

*Mayor Wilt presented to the Utility Board a possible outline of the agreement with Marshalltown Hammer. Once they make their changes and submit back to City Council we will Have the Attorney draft an agreement with Marshalltown and the City and hopefully get this In the books by September 1, 2024.

*Mayor Wilt passed out information on the Locally Imposed Grocery Sales Tax fee.

*Fall Festival theme decided “Everyday Heroes”. Please encourage those who have a talent, Collection, passion to enter that into the Fall Festival Arts and Crafts program or the Cake and Pie Auction. There will also be a water fight this year as well!!

*September meeting date is Tuesday 9/3 – because of Labor Day.

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Next meeting 8/29/2024 4:00 @ City Hall

Public Works

Ald. Norton made a motion to approve the Administration Agreement for the Bushnell CDBG sewer replacement project on Washington St./Blvd. Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Webb “aye” Ald. Allen absent

Ald. Havens “aye” Ald. Burkholder “aye”

Ald. Norton “aye” Ald. Baker “aye”

Ald. Yocum “aye” Ald. Coates “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ald. Yocum made a motion to accept the bid from SS Fencing for $57,934.66 for the decorative fence on the 400 blocks of East and West Main Street. Ald. Norton seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Havens “aye” Ald. Burkholder “aye”

Ald. Norton “aye” Ald. Baker “aye”

Ald. Yocum “aye” Ald. Coates “aye”

Ald. Allen absent Ald. Webb “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ald. Norton made a motion to Abandon the corner property by the Hensley land off of Ludwig St. Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Ald. Norton “aye” Ald. Baker “aye”

Ald. Yocum “aye” Ald. Coates “aye”

Ald. Allen absent Ald. Webb “aye”

Ald. Burkholder “aye” Ald. Havens “aye”

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*The City Attorney is working on an Ordinance to change the fine amounts for City tickets.

*The police department has received two applications for the full-time officer opening.

*Jeff Rench with ESDA stated the Sheboygan Warning Systems will be back in the area, and will talk about a maintenance contract.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*M&B donated a microwave for the Rec Center. Thank you!!

*The price of the chemicals for the pool have gone way up. Ald. Webb will meet with the pool and Park board to discuss this.

Engineering Report

*Nothing to report

Economic Development

*Next meeting August 26, 2024 @ 4:00

*The committee would like to purchase acoustic panels for the Rec. Center.

MAEDCO

*CEO had their student orientation, there are under 10 participants and none from Bushnell.

*Enterprise Zone will meet in October.

*Chipotle is coming to Macomb, hopefully opening I the 1st Quarter of 2025!

*Construction has started on the K-Mart building.

*Dairy Queen is for sale for $249,000

*The mobile home park is for sale for $499,000.

*Nothing to report
