Western Illinois women’s tennis to compete in OVC Fall Tournament

The Western Illinois University women's tennis team is set to participate in the Ohio Valley Conference Fall Tennis Tournament this weekend in Evansville, Indiana. The Leathernecks will compete alongside five other schools from the OVC in a two-day event, providing an early assessment of their standing within the conference before league play begins in Spring 2025.

The tournament details are as follows:

In their previous outing at the SIUE Cougar Invite, the Leathernecks demonstrated strong performance. On the first day of the tournament, they secured four out of six singles matches against Bradley and won two out of three doubles matches against SIUE. However, they lost two out of three doubles matches to Lindenwood. The team showcased its depth by winning singles matches at positions No. 2 through No. 5 against Bradley.

On the second day, Western Illinois started with a 5-1 victory over Lindenwood but faced defeats from Bradley in doubles and SIUE in singles. Paige Grice led her team with an impressive record of 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles over the weekend.

Looking ahead, the Leathernecks will conclude their fall schedule by hosting Quincy on October 6.
