City of Pittsfield City Council met Sept. 3.

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois, was held on Tuesday, September 03, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Council Room at the Pittsfield City all at 215 N Monroe Street. The following officers were present: Mayor Gary Mendenhall, Deputy City Clerk Holly Wade, and Alderman Kevin Ketchum, Bill Grimsley, Paul Lennon Chris Little, Robert Ritchart, Beth White, Robert Wilson and Kevin Wombles.
Alderman Ketchum moved to approve the August 20, 2024, city council minutes. Alderman Grimsley seconded the motion.

Mayor’s Announcements:
Mayor Mendenhall stated the following:
A Public Hearing was held in reference to the Downtown Revitalization.
Mayor and Alderman participated in the Rotary Golf Outing which will benefit
Mayor and Attorney Morris worked with the Economic Development Group in reference to a reassigned redevelopment agreement.
The Carpe Disc Golf Tournament, the Heartland Tractor Pull will both be held September 14 and 15th at the Pittsfield Lake.
Jellystone Pine Lakes will host a County Music Festival on September 13 and September 14. Mayor Mendenhall will be out of town this upcoming weekend.
Alderwoman White stated that the Finance Committee met tonight and discussed the Maysville Bridge, Adams Street, MFT and Newburg Township Roads. Funding sources for upcoming projects were also discussed.
Alderman Wilson stated that the Utilities Committee met and heard a presentation from Phil Donelson from Utility Pipe sales about a new meter reading system.
Alderman Wombles stated that the Street and Alley Committee met and discussed the Adams Street project and a policy on chip placement and sweeping.
Alderwoman Ritchart moved to approve Maysville Bridge Change Order #3.
Alderman Grimsley seconded the motion.

Alderman White moved the Maysville Pay Request, being the final pay request in the amount of $364,439.00.

Alderman Wombles moved to approve additional contribution to the Newburg Township North Lake Road project in the amount of $27,557.00

Alderman Little moved to approve the Pike County Dispatch Agreement in the amount of $32,800 for years 2024, 2025, and 2026.

New Business:
Alderman Ritchart updated that the Chief Starman stated the Cadet was doing very well in the academy. Also, our oldest squad car was being sold to Louisiana Missouri.
Alderman Grimsley has received calls with concerns about the safety on Clarksville Road at Fairs Street. Deputy Chief Thompson stated that the speed sign can be placed at that location as well as a stronger officer presence. Alderman White stated that Griggsville has volunteer cross walk attendents.
Alderman Lennon stated thanked the City employees for their work with then Fall Festival. Mr. Lennon also stated that he appreciates the information that Mayor Mendenhall continues to give to the alderman.
Alderman Little welcomed Todd Scranton back from a medical absence.
Alderman Little asked about the house on West Perry Street. Tom Reinhardt had a meeting with Attorney Morris and the fix or flatten process has started.
Public Works Director Tom Reinhardt stated that hidden entrance signs will be placed at the entrance to the burn pile. The boat ramp will be placed in the next few days. Interviews have started for a Gas and Water Employee.
Deputy Chief Thompson stated that advertisements for officer recruitment will begin soon. We do not currently have a position available, however, this is to build an application base for future needs.
Alderwoman Whtie moved to adjourn this meeting at 6:29 p.m.
