The Western Illinois University (WIU) baseball team raised $25,410 at their annual fall golf outing on Saturday, September 21. The event took place at Harry Mussatto Golf Course on the WIU campus. This year's total set a new record for the team, surpassing last year's amount by nearly $4,000.
"As we continue to build a program here in Macomb it is very important that we make improvements as we go," said Head Baseball Coach Terry Davis. "This event helps us to get one step closer to our goals and sets us up to be competitive with our OVC peers. Thank you to everyone who attended or supported in any way. Your support is needed and, most importantly, appreciated. Go Necks!"
The funds will be used for various aspects of the baseball program, including upgrading training facilities, purchasing equipment, and acquiring new software for player development and recruiting. Davis emphasized his commitment to developing the next generation of Leatherneck Baseball both on and off the field.
WIU Athletics and Leatherneck Baseball expressed their gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event.
