Western Illinois finishes strong at Hawkeye Invitational ahead of championship

Western Illinois University participated in the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City for their final regular season tournament, finishing 12th with a total score of 905 over three rounds. The team showed improvement as the tournament progressed, starting with a score of 306 in the first round, improving to 302 in the second, and achieving their best score of 297 in the third. The Leathernecks recorded an eagle and 33 birdies throughout the competition.

Dylan Cervantes led Western Illinois with a consistent performance. He began with a score of 73 in the first round, followed by a 74 in the second, and achieved his best score of 72 in the third round. Cervantes scored five birdies during his final round, including back-to-back birdies on holes six and seven and again on holes eleven and twelve.

Nathan Tillman also contributed significantly to the team's effort with an overall score of 228. He started with a score of 76 in round one, followed by a 78 in round two, and improved to a personal best of 75 in the third round where he made six birdies.

Other contributors included Ryan Rochholz (+13), Parker Govern (+14), and Bayden Hubacher (+27). The Leathernecks are now preparing for their next challenge at the Summit League Championship set to take place from April 30 through May 2 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
