Western Illinois University's men's golf team concluded their second fall tournament with an eighth-place finish at the Valpo Fall Invitational. Luke Lofgren, a sophomore from Rock Island, led the Leathernecks by securing a tie for 12th place. In the first round, Lofgren shot two over par and followed up with four birdies in the second round to complete an even-par front nine. He maintained consistency in the third round, shooting a +3 (75).
Baptiste Labeyrie was the second top performer for Western Illinois. His performance included three birdies and an eagle within his first 15 holes, contributing to a first-round score of 71. Labeyrie continued strong through rounds two and three with six more birdies.
Overall, the team finished fourth in birdies with 36 and third in eagles with one. The Leathernecks are set to compete next week at the Zach Johnson Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa.
