Western Illinois opens golf season at ASU Spring Classic

Western Illinois University's men's golf team is set to open their season at the ASU Spring Classic in Montgomery, Alabama. The tournament will take place on February 18-19 at the RTJ Trail in Prattville, a par 72 course that stretches over 7062 yards. This three-round event will see rounds one and two played on Sunday, with the final round on Monday.

Key players returning for WIU include Baptiste Labeyrie, who led the team in three of five fall tournaments and secured a second-best score in another. Luke Lofgren consistently finished among the top three performers for the team last fall. Mateo Rascon showed improvement by finishing as WIU's best performer in the final fall tournament.

The competition will feature teams from Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Chicago State University, Morehouse College, Savannah State University, Southern University, Texas Southern University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

WIU's starting lineup for the tournament includes Nathan Tillman, Luke Lofgren, Mateo Rascon, Baptiste Labeyrie, and Bayden Hubacher. Fans can follow live stats available through Smart Golf.
