WIU men's golf team finishes twelfth at Twin Oaks Intercollegiate

The Western Illinois University (WIU) men's golf team concluded their participation in the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate by securing the 12th position. The team finished with a score of 883, which is 31 over par.

Leading the team was Luke Lofgren, who tied for 25th place with a score of 215, two over par. Lofgren experienced two bogeys on the front nine but recovered with three birdies on the back nine, including consecutive birdies on holes 12 and 13. His second round saw him achieve par, recording two birdies and two bogeys. Lofgren's performance peaked in the third round where he began strongly with birdies on holes three and four, accumulating four birdies in total for that round.

Mateo Rascon ended tied for 39th place with a score of 217, four over par. He started his first round well with a birdie on the initial hole and added two more birdies to finish even at 71 going into the second round. Rascon achieved back-to-back birdies on par-four holes five and six, finishing with five birdies overall for that round. In his final round, he secured three birdies among the first four holes of the back nine.

The WIU men's golf team is set to compete again next week at The Big Texan tournament in Edinburg, Texas, scheduled for March 25-26.

Final scores for WIU participants were as follows: Luke Lofgren tied for 25th at +2; Mateo Rascon tied for 39th at +4; Baptiste Labeyrie tied for 54th at +10; David Ayala placed 69th at +15; Bayden Hubacher tied for 76th at +21; John Lishchynsky competed individually and placed 79th at +25.
