Western Illinois University prepares for MartinFed Invitational in Alabama

The Western Illinois University (WIU) Men's golf team is set to participate in the MartinFed Invitational at Turtle Point Yacht & Country Club in Killen, Alabama. The tournament will take place on October 16 and 17, featuring a three-round format with the first two rounds scheduled for day one and the final round on day two.

In their previous outing at The Big O Classic held earlier this month, WIU finished in 14th place. Baptiste Labeyrie led the team by tying for 26th place with a total score of 224 (+8). Labeyrie's performance included four birdies in both the first and third rounds, shooting scores of 73 (+1), 77 (+5), and 74 (+2) across the three rounds.

Luke Lofgren also contributed significantly, tying for 49th place with a score of 232 (+16). He recorded four birdies in his opening round, achieving a score of 73 (+1). Despite a second-round score of 79 (+7), Lofgren bounced back with two birdies and an eagle on hole 11 during his final round, finishing with a score of 74 (+2).

The Turtle Point course is a par-72 layout that stretches over 7133 yards. Teams competing alongside WIU include Alabama A&M, Auburn, Lindenwood, North Alabama (with two teams), Purdue Fort Wayne, Rollins, Samford, Southeastern Louisiana, Troy, and others.

WIU's starting lineup for the tournament consists of Baptiste Labeyrie, Luke Lofgren, Mateo Rascon, Nathan Tillman, and Bayden Hubacher. Live statistics for the event will be available through Golf Stat.
