The Western Illinois indoor track and field team is set to resume its season this weekend at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City. The team last competed over a month ago at the Jimmy Grant Invitational on December 9.

The event kicks off on Friday with field events such as the weight throw and shot put starting at 11 a.m., followed by multi-events at 11:30 a.m. Running events are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, the competition continues with the pole vault beginning at noon, and running events following at 1 p.m. Teams from Iowa, Bradley, Illinois, Illinois State, Indian Hills, Minnesota State, Mount Mercy, SIU-Edwardsville, Northern Iowa, and Wisconsin will also be competing.

Western Illinois has added three mid-year transfers to their roster who will debut this weekend. Mohammed Baghati from Ifrane, Morocco joins from Colby Community College where he was a two-time Junior College National Champion. Darrell Woodson from Rock Island comes from Iowa Central with impressive sprint times. Kelsey Hutchins from Sherrard joins the women's team after attending Ole Miss and boasts notable achievements in triple jump.

Aliyah Adams leads the Leathernecks with top conference performances in the 60 hurdles and long jump. Maleigha Huston ranks highly in the 800 meters along with strong showings from other team members across various events.

The men's team also features standout performances including Logan Lommel's leading time in the 800 meters and Arnie Grunert's top pole vault height.
