Logan Lommel continues to set records for Western Illinois University's men's indoor track and field team. Following his record-setting performance in the 3000-meter event last week, Lommel achieved a new program best in the mile at the Ichabod Relays on Saturday. He completed the race in 4:07.17, surpassing Ackeen Colley's previous record of 4:18.53 set in 2022. This accomplishment earned him first place in both program history and the event.

Lommel's achievement was part of a series of notable performances by Western Illinois athletes at the meet. Jaiden Young matched Lucas Burmiester's recent record in the 200-meter event with a time of 21.79, securing tenth place. In the women's events, Maleigha Huston finished third in the mile with a time of 5:03.5, while Savannah Harvey recorded the eighth-fastest time in program history for the women's 60 meters at 7.72 seconds.

Aliyah Adams made significant contributions as well, finishing fifteenth overall with her fourth-fastest program time of 25.13 seconds in the women's 200 meters and earning second place in the long jump with a leap of 19-06.25 (5.95 meters). Isaac Jones had strong showings too, finishing second in his first-ever men's 600-yard dash with a time of 1:12.19 and fifth in the men's 800 meters at 1:54.35.

The women's relay team consisting of Nakeita Kessling, Briza Dure, Passion Crews, and Monique Remy finished seventh overall with a time of 3:58.67.

In field events, Emma Ponx tied her personal best and secured second place by clearing a height of 12-03.5 feet (3.75 meters), which is also among the top four efforts historically for Western Illinois' women’s program.

Arnie Grunert took top honors by winning his event without any misses after clearing heights up to16-06.75 feet (5.05 meters). Toriano Tate performed well too; he placed fourth overall in both men’s triple jump and long jump events.

Western Illinois will continue their season next Friday when they compete at Iowa.
