Western Illinois finishes fifth at OVC golf tournament

Western Illinois University participated in its first Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) tournament, finishing in fifth place. The Leathernecks saw three of their golfers place within the top 20 individually.

Natalie Hooper led the team through two rounds, tying for fifth before ending up in 15th place overall. Hooper's performance included four birdies and an even par score of 72 on the second day.

Olivia Kerr was the highest finisher for Western Illinois, securing 12th place. Despite an opening round score of 80, Kerr improved over the next two days with a notable six birdies throughout the tournament.

Mia Scrimgeour finished tied for 18th after making an eagle on her opening round's back nine. She maintained her position with consistent play, including a final day featuring two birdies and seven pars.

The team's results were as follows: Olivia Kerr tied for 12th, Natalie Hooper placed 15th, Mia Scrimgeour tied for 18th, Makayla Mussato came in at 22nd, and Abby Hunter tied for 30th.
