Less than a day after a quiet performance, Western Illinois University (WIU) erupted offensively to defeat Illinois State 11-1 in a seven-inning game on Wednesday night. The win improved WIU's season record to 11-30.

The game began with Adam Juran sparking the Leathernecks' offense by hitting three doubles. J.R. Heavilin then hit a two-run single, contributing to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. Further contributions came from Kyree Alexander and Brock Lummus, with WIU capitalizing on a wild pitch and sacrifice fly.

Cole Dale, starting for WIU, allowed only one run over two innings. Colton Kachinsky followed with four scoreless innings and Mason Telford closed out the game with three quick outs. This solid pitching effort helped secure the team's victory.

Juran ended his impressive night going 4-5 with two RBIs and scoring twice. Max Slavens contributed three RBIs while Cesar Franco added two RBIs and reached base three times.

WIU will now return to conference play against the Little Rock Trojans in an upcoming three-game series.
