Western Illinois Track & Field team achieves new school records at Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE, KS — The Western Illinois University Track & Field team showcased their talents at the Kansas Relays, achieving significant results that set new school records.

In the women's 1500-meter run, Lydia Bennett achieved a 5th-place finish with a time of 4:55.05, followed by Greta Sieren in 10th place, clocking 5:05.77. Madison Trevena finished 7th in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:28.16. The 4x800-meter relay team, consisting of Bennett, Sieren, Hannah Steinmeyer, and Aylana Cezar, secured 4th place.

On the men's side, Sean Hudspath finished 8th in the 1500-meter run at 4:01.48, and Robert Perry attained 10th at 4:03.58. The 4x800-meter relay team of Richard Brown, Eason Comer, Hudspath, and Perry ended 8th with a time of 7:53.84.

In field events, Cage Davison achieved 5th place in the long jump with a distance of 7.05 meters, while Rayvon Wright secured 7th in the triple jump with 14.10 meters. Arnie Grunert set a new school record in the pole vault, finishing first with a jump of 5.62 meters.

For the women's field events, Kelsey Hutchins finished in the top 10 in the triple jump with an 11.75-meter jump, the 10th-best in the program's history.

The Leathernecks will next divide their efforts between the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open as they aim to continue their momentum.
