Western Illinois University's women's volleyball team lost both of its matches on Saturday at the Bradley Tournament, held at Renaissance Coliseum. The Leathernecks are now 0-3 for the season after falling to UT Arlington in five sets and then to Bradley in three sets.
In the morning match against UT Arlington, Western Illinois dropped the first two sets 25-17 and 25-15. The team rallied in the third set with contributions from Kiyah Franklin, Hillary Estes, and Elizabeth Ziegler, securing a narrow 25-23 win. Building on that momentum, WIU took the fourth set by the same score with help from Keyana Cruse and Kennedy Adair. However, UT Arlington pulled ahead in the decisive fifth set to win 15-11.
Later in the day, Western Illinois faced host Bradley. The Leathernecks started strong but ultimately lost all three sets (25-20, 25-23, and 25-21). Despite early leads and close scores throughout each set—especially with efforts from Grace Kremer, Kennedy Adair, Kiyah Franklin, and others—the Braves managed key runs to secure victory.
The Leathernecks will try to rebound next weekend at the SLU tournament where they are scheduled to play Murray State, Austin Peay, and Saint Louis between September 5 and 6.
