Western Illinois University's men's soccer team will play its second Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) match of the season against the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) Cougars on Thursday, October 2. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Central Time and will be available for viewing on ESPN+.

This matchup marks the seventh meeting between Western Illinois and SIUE since 2009. The Leathernecks currently trail in the all-time series, with two wins to SIUE's four. In their last visit to Edwardsville, Western Illinois lost 3-0.

Western Illinois enters the contest with a record of 2-7-1 and is seeking its first conference victory after tying its previous OVC match against Eastern Illinois. The team ranks sixth in the conference ahead of this week's game.

SIUE holds a record of 1-7 and sits seventh in the OVC standings. In their most recent conference opener, the Cougars lost 2-0 to Lindenwood, who remain undefeated in conference play. SIUE conceded two late goals in that match, at the 76th and 88th minutes.

The upcoming game provides both teams an opportunity to improve their positions within the OVC standings.
