Western Illinois University's cross country teams are set to compete in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Championships on Friday. The event will take place in Charleston, Illinois, with the men's 8K race scheduled for 9 a.m. and the women's 6K following at 10 a.m.

The meet will feature teams from Eastern Illinois, Lindenwood, Little Rock, Morehead State, Southeast Missouri, SIUE, Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, and Western Illinois.

In their previous outing at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, several Western Illinois runners achieved personal and season-best times. Lydia Bennett ran a personal best of 21:52.29 in the Women's Red 6K division and moved to #4 all-time for Western Illinois in that distance. Deana Hudson and Aylana Cezar also posted strong performances with personal and season-best times respectively. Other athletes including Emma-Kate Watt, Finley Hancock, Cassie Brushaber, Aurora Dominguez, Lily Patterson, Ellie Eastman, Caley Murphy for the women; Logan Beckmier, Brody Harker, Eason Comer and Evan Eberhart for the men recorded notable results.

Last year’s OVC Championships saw Southern Indiana sweep both the men's and women's team titles.

After this week’s competition at Charleston, Western Illinois will look ahead to the NCAA Regional Meet on November 14 in Indianapolis.
