City of Dallas City Council met Oct. 6.

The Dallas City City Council held its regular meeting on October 6, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. Mayor Kevin Six called the meeting to order with the following commissioners present: Peggy Newberry and Greg Olson. Carole McDowell and Harold Northup Jr. were absent.
Others attending the meeting were Anne Thompson, Jalen Smith, Mike Howley, and Gary Smith.
A motion was made by Newberry, and 2nd by Olson to accept the minutes of the September 15, 2025, meeting. Newberry, Olson, and Six AYE. McDowell and Northup ABSENT.

Jalen Smith appeared on behalf of the Bulldog Boosters. They are having their Penny Carnival on October 17 and are asking for donations. This will be discussed at the next meeting.
Police Chief Gary Smith discussed the Nuisance Ordinance Violation Tracking Report that he presented to the council. He has issued 12 citations. He also discussed his monthly report for September. He recently attended the Deflection Summit in Carthage and will be attending a School Reunification Drill at WIU on October 15 as part of the Dallas City Elementary School District Team. Both Officer Rosson and Chief Smith recently attended training. The 2020 Explorer police car is scheduled to have the catalytic system repaired this week.
The zero turn mower's head is warped. Melton's Auto is working on repairing it.
Discussed some fire hydrants that are leaking a little and will need to be replaced. Housewright Plumbing has agreed to help with the replacement of these hydrants.
Discussed the west bound lane of Illinois Highway 96 just east of the 4-Way Stop. There seems to be a disagreement between IDOT Districts 4 and 6 as to who is responsible for this section of highway.
Mike Howley appeared on behalf of Verizon Wireless regarding the proposal to put up a tower on the city's property west of the boat dock parking lot.
Commissioner Greg Olson left the meeting at 5:45 p.m. Due to a lack of a quorum, the meeting was adjourned at 5:46 p.m.
