The price of local government in 2016: Village of Meredosia

The Village of Meredosia budget was $1.15 million for its 2016 fiscal year, or $2,448 per household.

That's an increase of 50.7 percent from 2015, when the village spent $762,140, or $1,625 per household.

Meredosia has 469 households and a population of 1,022.

Since 2001, the Village of Meredosia budget has fallen by 52.7 percent, from $2.43 million. The village population has fallen two percent over the same period, from 1,043.

Salaries accounted for 21 percent of village spending in 2016. Meredosia property taxpayers paid $241,378 for four full-time employees and three part-time employees.
