City of Bushnell City Council met Sept. 18.

Mayor Wilt called the meeting to order

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.

Consent Agenda

Ald. Norton made a motion to approve the consent agenda which includes.

1. Approval of Minutes from September 5, 2023

2. Accept August Financial/Treasurers Report.

Ald. Yocum seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Ad hoc (Mayor’s Report)

*Vaughan & Bushnell’s big Shear Building is down.

*Farmers are out so watch out for them.

*Mayor Wilt asked the council to police themselves…do the right thing.

Personnel/Finance/Budget

*Next meeting September 28, 2023 @ City Hall 4:00

*Christmas and New Year holidays will be the 25th & 26th and the 1st & 2nd of January.

Public Works

*Next meeting September 26, 2023 @ 4:00

*A service line inventory for the Water Plant needs to be done, there is some funding available.

*The Water tower painting is going well, weather permitting they will be done some

Time in October.

*Stacey Lewallen will start in the Utility office on October 2, 2023.

*Bids will be put out for the building at the complex that was destroyed during the storm.

Police/Liquor/ESDA

*The Rec. Center storm siren is now fixed.

*Interim Police Chief Hood stated the new police pickup was involved in an accident. It will need a new bumper and tail light.

*Chief Hood asked for ideas for Community Service.

*The city is looking into doing a Tire Cleanup

*Chief Hood stated the new web cams that will be mandated soon will need cloud storage.

Ald. Baker made a motion to give a liquor license to Bushnell Market. Ald. Coates seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with the results as follows:

Where upon Mayor Wilt declared the motion carried.

Real Estate/Parks/Recreation

*The EPA has not yet approved the permit for the splash park, they are concerned with the amount of water usage needed.

Engineering Report

*Façade Project- They are doing tuck pointing and brick repair now. There was some damage done to M&B Furniture, it will be taken care of by the contractor.

Economic Development

*Next meeting Sept. 25, 2023 4:00 @ the Depot

*Ald. Allen stated that Shanti Willey came and decorated the Depot so they could homecoming pictures. They had a great turnout!! Thanks Shanti!!

MAEDCO

*Kim Pierce from MAEDCO stated that the CEO program is looking for somewhere in Bushnell to have there February meetings. The Depot and the Rec center would be available.

*Pierce stated Pizza Hut in Macomb has sold.

*The Kmart property is being redeveloped.

*Manufacturing month is October, they are working on getting plant tours for Juniors & Seniors.

Attorney’s Report/Ordinances & Resolutions

*City Attorney Nick Tinsman stated he has written up and Park District Intergovernmental Agreement that will cover the storm clean up and the Splash pad.

Ald. Allen made a motion to adjourn
