Western Illinois volleyball defeats Tennessee State in straight sets at home

Western Illinois University's women's volleyball team secured a 3–0 victory over Tennessee State on Saturday at Western Hall. The Leathernecks recorded a team hitting percentage of .330 and achieved 10 total blocks during the match. This win marks their fourth conference victory of the season.

In the opening set, Western Illinois quickly established a 7–2 lead, with contributions from Kennedy Adair and Keyana Cruse. Karlie Lane added two service aces. The Leathernecks maintained their momentum, limiting Tennessee State to a -.094 hitting percentage and winning the set 25-16.

The second set saw Western Illinois turn a 6–6 tie into a 13–9 lead, helped by consecutive kills from Elizabeth Ziegler. The team's offense continued to perform, finishing the set with a .324 hitting percentage. Four players had at least two kills each, and Lane contributed another ace and 12 digs. The Leathernecks won the set 25-18 after a Tennessee State error.

In the final set, Western Illinois posted a .361 hitting percentage. Adair, Ziegler, and Cruse added key kills, while Hillary Estes secured her 14th kill to close out the match. The Leathernecks ended the match with another 25-18 set win.

Following this result, Western Illinois holds a 6–16 overall record and is 3–6 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Tennessee State's record drops to 1–23 overall and 0–11 in conference matches. The Leathernecks will play their next matches on the road against Lindenwood from October 31 to November 1.
