Western Illinois women's basketball secures home win over Chicago State

Western Illinois University's women's basketball team maintained its undefeated start to the season with an 86–75 victory over Chicago State on Monday at Western Hall. The Leathernecks now hold a 3–0 record.

Mia Nicastro led Western Illinois with 33 points and 17 rebounds, making 11 of her 15 shots from the field and converting nine out of ten free throws. Raegan McCowan contributed 18 points and six rebounds. Allie Meadows and Mallory Shetley each added between eight and ten points, helping to provide balanced scoring for the team.

After leading by five at the end of the first quarter, Western Illinois extended its advantage to 38–26 by halftime through efficient shooting and consistent defense. Chicago State narrowed the gap in the third quarter, but Western Illinois managed to outscore them in the fourth quarter, securing the win.

The Leathernecks scored 42 points in the paint, outrebounded Chicago State 36–34, and turned 17 turnovers into 22 points. They also made 24 of their 32 free-throw attempts.

Chicago State's top scorer was Keona McGee with 16 points. Marisa Gant added 15, Brianna Hill had ten, and Chloe Sisco contributed eight points.

Western Illinois will play Bradley University on November 20 as they continue their non-conference schedule.
