Western Illinois University's baseball team is preparing to host Eastern Illinois from April 5-7 in Macomb, IL. The Leathernecks have had a promising start to the season, with designated hitter J.R. Heavilin making significant contributions. Heavilin impressed against Tennessee Tech, batting .556 and scoring twice.

The team's six victories this season have all been close contests, each decided by two runs or less. Catchers Adam Juran and Brock Lummus played pivotal roles in their recent games against UT Martin, combining for a .500 average at the plate.

Caden Kratz has emerged as a reliable closer for Western Illinois, securing two saves against UT Martin and bringing his total to six for the year. His performance ranks him third in NCAA baseball for saves.

Liam Bushey also stood out with his performance against Cincinnati and Iowa, achieving a .588 batting average and driving in crucial runs. The victory over Cincinnati marked Western Illinois's first win against a Big 12 opponent since 2009.

Adam Juran was named Ohio Valley Player of the Week on February 19th after starting the season strong both offensively and defensively. He posted impressive statistics including a .333 batting average and leading his team with ten total bases.

Head Coach Terry Davis celebrated his first win as head coach with a 6-5 victory over Austin Peay. Davis is noted as the first head coach since 1955 to begin his tenure with an opening game win.

Western Illinois Athletics joined the Ohio Valley Conference on July 1st, becoming its 11th member. The Leathernecks will sport new uniforms this weekend thanks to donations from the 1974 Hall of Fame Baseball team celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The team raised over $18,000 at their First Pitch Dinner event on February 3rd to support various aspects of their program. This fundraising effort reflects community support for Leatherneck Baseball as they celebrate their history while looking towards future successes.
