The Western Illinois University men's soccer team will conclude its 2025 regular season at home against Lindenwood University on Sunday, November 2. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.

Currently holding a record of 4-12-2 overall and 2-6-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), the Leathernecks are aiming to secure a postseason berth with this final conference game. The team recently achieved a 2-1 comeback win over SIUE, with Xavier Gagnon and Diego Porras scoring second-half goals. Both of Western Illinois’ conference victories this season have come against SIUE.

Senior forward Liam Gainey has led the team’s offense during his last season, recording six goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Micah Ramirez has started all 18 matches for the Leathernecks, leading the OVC with 81 saves and ranking fifth in the league with a goals-against average of 1.72.

This upcoming match will be the second meeting between Western Illinois and Lindenwood this season. In their previous encounter on October 5, Lindenwood won 2-0 in St. Charles, with goals from Sebastià Cerda Tous and Gavin Csiszar. Lindenwood enters the weekend at the top of the conference standings with a record of 13-1-3 overall and leads the all-time series against Western Illinois, three wins to one with one draw.

“With the OVC Tournament picture still taking shape, the Leathernecks will look to cap their regular season on a high note and make a final push toward postseason play in front of their home crowd.”
