Western Illinois University’s men’s basketball team will begin its 2025–26 season with an away game against Radford University on Monday, November 3. The matchup is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Dedmon Center in Radford, Virginia.

The Leathernecks are coming off a 12–19 record last season and aim to improve under head coach Chad Boudreau. The team faces a significant transition this year, returning only one player from last season’s roster, Ifiok Peter, who redshirted and did not play in any games. Peter’s familiarity with the program positions him as a leader among a group of new transfers and freshmen.

Key newcomers expected to contribute include junior guard Lucas Lorenzen, known for his outside shooting and court vision after transferring to Western Illinois, and senior forward Antwaun Massey, who brings athleticism and defensive versatility to the frontcourt.

Radford enters the contest following a 20–13 campaign last year. The Highlanders are led by first-year head coach Zach Chu and also feature several new players on their roster.

The Leathernecks’ priorities for the opener include establishing offensive rhythm early with their new lineup, controlling rebounds to limit second-chance points for Radford, and maintaining strong defensive communication.

A win would give Western Illinois an early boost as they look to build chemistry among their newcomers and set a positive tone for the rest of the season.
